چکیده

The present paper demonstrates that the Hart-Smith constitutive model and the more recent Arruda and Boyce eight chains and Gent constitutive models are closely related. The ability of these three models to predict both small and large strain responses of rubbers is highlighted and equations that relate their material parameters are established. INTRODUCTION Elastomers exhibit a very complex mechanical behavior, that includes large strain, timedependent response, hysteresis, and stress-softening (Mullins effect). In the last few years, there was a significant effort to propose realistic constitutive equations for these materials.1-10 These models focus on the whole behavior of elastomers or on only one of the previously mentioned phenomena. Nevertheless, all constitutive equations are based on the general theory of hyperelasticity.11 So, consider now the non-linear elastic response of rubber-like material. It is characterized by the existence of a strain energy potential W. Assuming that elastomers are both isotropic and incompressible, this strain energy function only depends on the two first invariants of the left Cauchy-Green stretch tensor B:

The Performance of Karafillis-Boyce Yield Function on Determination of Forming Limit Diagrams

Forming Limit Diagrams are useful tools for evaluation of formability in the sheet metals. In this paper the effects of yield criteria on predictions of the right and left-hand sides of forming limit diagrams (FLDs) are investigated. In prediction of FLD, Hosford 1979, “Karafillis-Boyce” (K-B) and BBC2000 anisotropy yield functions have been applied. Whereas the prediction of FLD is based on th...

Rubber/Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposite with Hyperelastic Matrix

An elastomer is a polymer with the property of viscoelasticity, generally having notably low Young's modulus and high yield strain compared with other materials.  Elastomers, in particular rubbers, are used in a wide variety of products ranging from rubber hoses, isolation bearings, and shock absorbers to tires. Rubber has good properties and is thermal and electrical resistant. We used carbon ...

Effect of Reclaimed rubber Modification on the Rheological Properties and Rutting Resistance of Asphalt Binders

In this paper, the effect of reclaimed rubber modification on the rheological characteristics of asphalt binders is studied. Reclaimed rubber with the extent of 12, 16 and 20 is added to the neat asphalt binder and then shear complex modulus is obtained for neat and modified asphalt binder via Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test. Using Christensen-Anderson- Marasteanu (CAM) model, master curves ...

Vibration of Road Vehicles with Non linear Suspensions

In order to investigate the effects of non-linear springs in vibrating behavior of vehicles, the independent suspension of conventional vehicles could be modeled as a non-linear single degree of freedom system. The equation of motion for the system would be a non-linear third order ordinary differential equation, when considering the elasticity of rubber bushings in joints of shock absorber. It...
